Hector Hideaway thrives on Seneca Lake with NY wines and live music

May 31, 2023

Hector Hideaway restaurant and bar opened on Mother’s Day bringing a new, thriving asset to the east side of Seneca Lake.

Kelly Brimhall, Hector Hideaway bar manager, said the growth has been phenomenal since the restaurant and bar opened at the Mathews Road location in Burdett, near state Route 414, a little more than three months ago.

Hector Hideaway is open 2-9 p.m. Thursday, noon to midnight Friday and Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, Brimhall said. The late-night menu at Hector Hideaway runs until 11:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

“We are trying to get more of a lunch crowd,” said Enrico Barone, owner of Hector Hideaway and nearby Vineyard Villas. “We do have a decent following at lunch, but I think more people need to know we do offer lunch.”

“The look of the lake is beautiful during the day," Brimhall said. "That atmosphere is nice and quiet, and the food is wonderful.”

Brimhall said late night at the Hector Hideaway is definitely building.

“We have bands here every Friday night, Saturday we are building on,” Brimhall said. “On Saturdays we are working with DJ’s, getting duos or a single singer doing acoustics. Everyone that comes here seems to just love it.”

Brimhall said Hector Hideaway recently started offering industry discounts to area employees at local wineries, breweries and restaurants, many of which close earlier.

“We are working on getting that industry discount built up,” Brimhall said. “The late-night food we offer is nice for many of those local employees just getting out of work.”

Barone said Hector Hideaway offers music on Friday and Saturday and stays open until at least midnight, operating under a New York State Farm Winery License.

“We have all New York State wine and beverages,” Brimhall said. “Everything we offer at Hector Hideaway I have personally tasted, and it is top level.”

Barone said Hector Hideaway will stay open year round.

Vineyard Villas, located on the same Mathews Road property, offering short-term rentals with a complete view of Seneca Lake, includes six one-bedroom units, a pair of two-bedroom units, a two-bedroom and a three-bedroom suite.
